Q: What is the Housing Rehabilitation Program?

A: The Housing Rehabilitation Program helps qualified homeowners repair their homes. Qualification is based on income, need and requires that you live in and own your home. To find out if you are income-qualified, click here.

Q. Will you give me the funds to find my own contractor to do the work?

A: After receiving your application, we will determine if you meet the eligibility requirements. Thereafter, we will contact you to schedule an initial inspection in your home. We will help you in getting qualified contractors provide bids for your work. You will then choose the lowest, responsible bid/bidder. We will manage the construction and rehabilitation progress for you, and pay progress payments to the contractor, after your approval. Q. What type of work is eligible for funding assistance?

A: Eligible and qualified project work includes correction of health, safety and code violations, hazard mitigation, removal of architectural barriers for mobility access of disabled persons, and correction of structural failures. Energy conservation measures also qualify for funding assistance. The Housing Rehabilitation Specialist or Construction Manager, who conducts the initial inspection, is responsible for determining the scope of work.
